It is my opinion that orange is one of the more difficult colors to design with. I know this is purely opinion based, but to me orange usually comes across as cheap and poorly designed. Somehow it seems that this color is hard to effectively design with. I have no idea what it is about the color, but I am seldom impressed with it. This is of course not to say that it can't be used very effectively, only that it seems to be one of the more challenging pallets. And as you might expect the samples provided here are in fact positive demonstrations of the use of the color.
